Manufacturing Lighting Recommendations

There are many variables to consider when choosing lighting for your manufacturing facility. Manufacturing facilities are generally operating 24 hours 7 days a week, therefore the potential saving must be derived from efficient technologies alone. On the other hand, most warehouses are only used several hours a day. There is a lot of potential energy savings to be realized in a warehouse when you consider its high bay light usage.

Motion Sensors

Motion sensors will reduce energy consumption proportional to warehouse use, but it only works where the re-strike time on the lamp is very short. HID lighting is not an option when using sensors for this reason.   Experience also tells us not to overlook task lighting for the warehouse work areas. The light there would be the same for a factory floor depending the visual task required..

High Ceilings

Most warehouses have ceiling heights of 15 ft or greater. The higher the ceiling, the more light output from a particular fixture is needed. While some up-light is desirable, most warehouses have poor reflectivity in the ceiling, making reflectors an important attribute for these fixtures. We suggest using high reflectivity for these high ceilings.

Low Ceilings

For ceilings at the low end of 15 feet, strip fixtures are an appropriate choice. Fluorescent lighting technologies have improved dramatically, establishing a practical, cost-effective and energy efficient application replacement for HID.

Unclean Environments

Our vapor tight fixtures offer an enclosed solution, and are specially designed for environments more prone to dirt and dust.
